First time I ever meet Sara, she was twirling her dress and gave me run down on how the dress makes the princess - so a Princess cake seemed the way to go for the Birthday girl, and a Disney princess at that. I tried a couple of times to make a princess that resembled a true Disney princess but in the end I have to throw in the towel and buy Belle! I happen to be a big fan of Beauty and the Beast, so this cake was fun to do!

A very special little girl turned 7 and she adores animals. She wants to work at the Zoo when she grows up, so this design was a no brainer ;o) She is especially fond of tigers that clearly are NOT my forte, but I am pleased with the overall result!

This cake took hours and hours to make - gold seems to be my Achilles' heel. I just can't seem to buy a product that lives up to my expectations - I would love some input if you have any ideas. First I purchased some gold dust which I turned into paint with alcohol. It looked fine until it dried and then it just looked bland and boring. So off to the store again, where I got gold glitter that would make the 80's blush ;o). But that glitter went EVERYWHERE, but did do a better job of making the cake shine with gold. So the end-result was, hopefully, a sparkly princess for a special little girl.

I have been so busy painting my apartment that there hasn't been much time to make cakes, BUT it was my "painter"'s birthday the other day, so I had to make time. Luckily he is a not a great fan of Hello Kitty or other wild ideas, so a few dots was all it took to make a really nice cake. Thank you Niels, love the paint job. I am very lucky to have friends, that are willing to help me paint, as I am not a wiz with a paint brush!

I have known Tina for many, many years and her alias has always been Betty Boop - she loves everything about her! Her birthday party was a fun oppertunity to make her a cake with her idol on it!

Also I have included a picture of the top layer of the wedding cake, that I have been working HARD on for about a week. That which does not kill you - only makes you stronger, could be my motto after finishing this cake! More pictures to come once the photographer works her magic.
